Animal Testing in the Cosmetic Industry

Animal Testing in the Cosmetic Industry

For this project, I created a subversive design centered around a cause I’m deeply passionate about: challenging the beauty industry's ongoing animal testing practices.

I aimed to flip the narrative by drawing attention to the harsh realities behind many popular beauty products. The target audience was females aged 12 to 35 who frequently purchase makeup, skincare, and other beauty goods. The goal was to raise awareness and empower consumers to make more informed, ethical choices.

Programs Used:

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Photoshop

Why? I was tasked with creating a piece that it subversive and meant something to me. Therefore, I wanting to create a piece that had to do with testing in the cosmetic Industry.

Inspiration? The goal was to improve brand visibility and brand awareness. I had to consider their demographic, product, audience and current branding.

Timeline? I worked on this piece over the course of a week.

Final Design? The final design was developed through a thoughtful exploration of various sources of inspiration, combining different elements to strengthen the message. I selected a specific image and altered it by replacing the human and gorilla figures, creating a powerful visual comparison. This intentional switch was meant to emphasize that testing on animals is no different than testing on humans—challenging viewers to reconsider the ethics behind animal testing in the beauty industry.
